  1. Hi all

We have a new Head of Department who used G Suite in his old school and is keen to get it up and running here. From the looks of things, it seems to offer similar to what Frog can do (Google Classroom is the main tool he wants to use I believe) and I'm a little cautious of introducing a new system here which could overtake the use of Frog. Does anyone use Frog and Google side by side any can anyone shed any light on it for me, as I don't know anything about the G Suite!

    Thanks in advance

    Tom

  2. I did have a think about it but I'd really like a proper ticketing system to enable me to assign certain tickets to different members of the team etc. and at present neither forums or forms would allow this :)

  3. Not entirely Frog related but have any of you come across/use a good (free!) IT Helpdesk system in your schools? I'm keen to get one up and running but am yet to find anything easy to use and simple to set up! Ideally I'd like all staff to have access so they could raise tickets etc. but at the very least even something we could use between the 3 of us in the IT Office would be good.

    Hi Tom,

This is expected behaviour, when on a mobile or tablet device, you should not see the "X" for sites or apps, instead, use the Frog Head in the top left hand corner on your FrogBar (as Paul has mentioned too), this is essentially used as the "back button" on a mobile.

If you have any further questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask as I'd be more than happy to help out :)

    Great, thanks Tom!

  5. I might be being really dim (highly likely!) but I can't see how to close a site or edit a site when accessing Frog via a browser on a mobile device?

  6. Cool, I've managed to do this so far...looking good! Just need to go through each site and share it with the relevant people/line managers to ensure the right people see the right sites! Still a big job but not as 'faffy' as having to create a group for each person and then set up rules etc.

I'm looking forward to your new eportfolio maker @Graham Quince:)

what we've done for our individual student spaces is create a curriculum area (called Workspaces)

create a template which is tagged with the curriculum area and also a default group to share with (in our case area admins for those students)

then for each student create a site based on that template and share it with the student and any others that need access.

On the dashboard there is then a site list widget set to show all those sites tagged in that curriculum area that the logged in user has access to as well as being able to see them in the curriculum area in the Frog Drive.

It's worked well for us (especially after the introduction of the site list widget) but can be rather repetitive to set up many at once (thankfully we don't have huge numbers of students) - the ePortfolio maker will make things easier.

Hope that makes sense but it would save you having to have everyone on the same site with their own tab.

Hmm, interesting! Sounds like a good idea with the site list widget (which I always forget about!). I might give that a go and see how I get on. Am I right in thinking that users can only see the sites that are shared with them, in the site list widget?

    Hi Tom,

In the next release (mid-late October), we are launching ePortfolio Maker, which will create a site per user in a group.

Can you hang on for this?

SLT would like it up and running by 6th September when term starts so unfortunately not

  9. We'd like to trial parents accessing their child's report via Frog but only want to do this with a couple of classes. What would you suggest is the best way to achieve this? Obviously parents aren't organised into 'classes' like their children are so I'm guessing it'd be a manual job of creating a group, adding the parents individually and then creating a tab on the parent dashboard that only these users can access?

Has anyone else had success with reports going home via Frog? At the moment, it seems to pull in all 'General Documents' linked to the child in SIMS - does anyone know if it's possible to create a new category in SIMS called 'Reports' and when reports are uploaded, they could be uploaded as a 'Report' rather than a 'General Document'? It'd make things so much easier if this is possible as it would mean only reports are pulled into Frog and nothing else like behavior incidents, SEN reports etc. which we don't necessarily want.

  10. Hi @Graham Quince

We have the pages set up so each member of staff has their own 'tab' on that page and the idea is that only that certain member of, pus their Head of Department, can see their tab. Basically we don't want staff seeing each other's tab therefore the only way I can see of doing this is by creating a group for each individual user?

    Thanks

    Tom

  11. Has anyone got any ideas of a simple way of hiding tabs within a site for certain users? Our SLT are adamant they want the Staff Development site up and running for September. At the moment, I'm going through and manually creating a group for each individual member of staff, adding that member of staff to the group and then going to the relevant tab within the site and applying the rule so that only that 'group' can see it. This is going to take aaaaaaaages but I can't see another way around it, until we're able to use rules for individual users rather than just groups.

  12. Afternoon all

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine! Our Librarian has asked whether we could potentially use Frog to notify students of their overdue library books, rather than sending letters home to the students' parents like she does now. We did come up with the idea of assigning this as a homework but I'd imagine this would be quite a big job, going through all the overdue books and adding assignments individually for each child etc. We are FrogLearn only and use Oliver as our library management system so there isn't any integration between the two. Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Tom
