Graham Quince
Hi everyone, I know the forums are a little quiet, but looking at the analytics, there's still quite a few people checking regularly. Please can you share how you're using MyFrog, specifically how are the following using it: Parents e.g. use it to check their child's homework Students e.g. hand in homework, read messages Staff Check cover, check timetable etc... Doesn't have to be every teacher etc..., but in your anecdotal experience. Thanks Graham
MrsCotterill
Most of our parents use the MyFrog app as they get instant notifications when a member of staff has assigned a piece of homework or posted a comment on their child's ePlanner. I understand from our students that they use it on their phones as it is quicker than going through the web and they like the instant notification. They also use it to check their e-comments, timetables and assignments. Parents have said to use it the same way as well as accessing data from lessons scores and behaviour/ achievements points. The negative they have fed back on was it can be very glitchy, they have to click/ scroll a few times to get to the info they want and they can only see the instructions of an assignment, not the actual resource attached to it. It also kicks them out at times and they have to contact us to remind them of the URL or logins details. I have lately been asked to put it on colleagues' phones as they find is easier and quicker to post comments on students' ePlanners from anywhere in the day or evening. We have been using Frog as a digital planner for a while now to save funding on a paper one that students often lose and parents don't even look at. All stakeholders are now used to it as our main communicative tool. As teachers, we also use it for notifications from colleagues to reduce unnecessary emails to all staff, as well as promoting newsletters and events/ parents evenings. Staff have said the same about been kicked out of it on regular basis.
gbligh
Our parents like the app the most because they don't need to always log in. That seems to be the biggest selling point to them. Our students use it on a regular basis to access the platform. They like the notifications and not needing to always log in. One thing they all ask for is if the 'Show dashboards on WiFi only' toggle to be turned off by default and then they turn it back on if they need it. Staff tend to use Frog in the browser.

Hi Karine, Thank you for this post. It's a bit concerning to read about users being kicked out of the app. Are our Service Desk aware?

Hi George, Thank you for this write up. It's interesting to read about the request for Wifi only's default change. It's a difficult one, isn't it. We'd have to make that change for all users (unless there's something we can do in System Preferences). Do your teachers have a reason for using the browser instead? Funnily enough, another student mentioned it again this morning.
ADT
Evening... So we use MyFrog... its something I suggest to all of our users to download when i introduce Frog to them. Users can use MyFrog to access the expected thing, timetables, homework, read messages. Staff find it useful to be able to set work "on the fly" while traveling to work (not driving obviously). Parents like the fact it "pings" like any other app when a message/homework has been set.....students not so much. The fact you can quickly go to your Dashboard is really useful if you want to access the "real" site is really handy!! Im not saying its all positives.... we also see some of the negatives like getting randomly kicked out like @MrsCotterill has pointed out.... but what app is perfect!! Overall if its an easy way to get students, staff and parents to use Frog.... its a winner for me!! 👍
gbligh
The other thing I forgot to mention is that when students scroll and their finger lands on the assignment calendar, then it opens the assignment by accident.
