Most Chromebooks, Macbooks and Window's laptops have a camera embedded in them. A student could hold up the work and then take an image of it and have it upload to the program. One issue we have with Snap is that it requires a wifi connection, and we do not allow students to bring in electronics and hook it to our wifi. With the limited bandwidth shared by all devices this would be a major failure point in our infrastructure. Thus by allowing computers to do this, we could have the option to use this feature and save on paper. It also has to do with equity in education. Not all students have a mobile device. We can't assume that all of our students have access to this in the school system and making that assumption is dangerous. My thought behind this is, we have math teachers who have their students take notes, but then do their practice on paper or whiteboards. Whiteboards would save paper and if you break it down, A ream of paper costs ~5.00 USD that is .01/piece. Our teachers average a load of 120 students for 180 days. If they give approx 2 pages / day each student costs ~3.60 USD that is 432 USD/teacher at 8 teachers a savings of ~3500 would be realized and that is just the math department. If we were to spread the same figures across all of secondary in my district we would be looking at a savings of about 54,600 USD and with primary we may see even more. That would be about 1/2 the Total Cost for a single teacher. It would allow parents to see the work their child is turning in (increasing parent engagement) as well as preventing the common litany of students "You lost it so you should give me credit still. I can also see an increase in using FrogFeedback because rendering images has never been a problem and students can either retain the work, even if they have done it on a whiteboard. If you haven't figured it out I have found Frog to be a good resource. One of the issues in the US has been students using their phones in class. We don't have tablets for each student and we don't want the students on their phones. (too many privacy issues and security issues, as well as a MAJOR distraction to the learning environment) We also don't want them using their phones but still would like them to be able to upload a picture through Frog. So the idea would be to embed Snap or a picture taking program in learn that can be used to upload an image. I have been using Opera lately which has run Frog really well until Da Vinci where it no longer resizes the screens correctly. I am unable to reach the next button on many dialog boxes. How do you determine compatibility for different browsers and which browsers do you support? Matt

@ADT @Graham Quince It looks like the conversion issue was supposed to be solved with Da Vinci. I graded 200 assignments last night with multiple different formats. Each format converted properly. I will continue to look. Matt @emoseley This may allow us to start to really role out feedback to the teachers.

Some have, but it hasn't been anything i have been worried about. I have used work arounds and with 120 students it is a concern, but I am not going to stop using something that helps my students.

I would really suggest using it if you can. I love it and it has so many uses.

Hey all, We here in Talbot have Frog Feedback. This is how I send work back and forth. Students are alerted to comments on their work through having a highlighter/pen icon turn a magenta color and that lets them know they have comments. I think there should be an option to send back work to amend. I wonder how difficult this would be. I think it would be as simple as a script that sends a reopen to each of the assignments and a notification to students. @Graham Quince is this correct? Cheers Matt

This can be done. I believe you use the exam feature in an assigned quiz My only question would be how would this effect the quiz and the games. I am all for this. I think that the quiz question area should be scrollable and would make it better for quizzes across the board.

If you are going to do this, my one request is that admin have the ability to do a version view. It would be helpful if something were to change that the admin could go back and see it before the change as well.

We have the same. I tend to build the site then assignment the full assignment before sending out.

A teacher emailed me The issue I am having is leaving feedback for students using the comment feature within a Google doc that has been assigned via FROG. I strongly prefer the flexibility that opening and making comments directly into the Google document versus the Feedback feature in FROG assignments. The issue is that when students complete and assignment with a google activity, the assignment becomes View Only for the student. In this mode they cannot see comments. My suggestion is to have a method for student permission for the assigned Google doc to become "Can Comment". This would allow students to not only see my comments, but also to make corrections to their assignments as a reteaching strategy. Is this a setting that can change easily? Does it need to go into the portal. He doesn't want to use the feedback function because the google comments are easier for him to give. Matt

I would use the integration. The front end of Frog provides a more powerful method for teacher to create and build. I don't like the Google Classroom aspect of the G Suite, but love the Frog aspect. We have been running and integrated platform for about 3/4 of a year and the teachers are loving it. It may be the best method to have your cake and eat it to. Some of the highlights in my mind are Google Drive linked to Frog Drive. It allows me to use the Google drive as a catch all location and then access it through the Frog Drive to load on the pages. Google Preview allows me to embed a google doc into a page (teachers can adapt their pages not just start over and lose time... this helps with buy in) Google Assignment I can send out a Google Doc or other collaborative or non collaborative document through the assignment and have the students complete it. I am still able to grade it through Frog. From a design perspective: Frog allows for an easier Universal Design for Learning integration allowing more learners to be able to access the information. It also prevents some customizability making it easier for teachers to create sites. None of the above should be taken that Google isn't a great product, but in my humble opinion, Frog has a better front end with better abilities for control and reporting than Google. The integration is where both really shine. @emoseley could probably tell you more about the back end as I am an end user. Matt

It would be if the threads didn't change the name of the person who owns the original thread when someone replies. 2. You can only reply to the original author, not one of the replies. What the teacher is asking for is so that they can write the original post... each student replies and then students reply to each and they format one under each other. So if Sarah wrote the reply and I reply to Sarah it would be indented under Sarah. Matt

Hey all, So I have a teacher who is looking to use discussion boards on their frog page for the students. They would like it to be like a college class where the teacher posts a questions, the students respond and then the students respond back to two of the other students items. The way they would like to see it is as follows. Is there a way to do this in FrogLearn? I see that the wall allows people to reply to the main comment, but I believe that she would like people to be able to reply to replies. Really important for online and blended classes. Matt

I have been so excited about having the myfrog app for my students and parents. I just downloaded it and it asked for the url. I have put in frog.tcps.k12.md.us and nothing happens. Me Thinks that there is an issue here or did I do something wrong. Matt

If you are a google and Frog client, you may be able to do much the same as this with Google Draw. You can upload the PDF and students can fill it out and submit it. Matt

@Graham Quince I love the idea of the eportfolio., Is there a way that it could also create a page that nests all of the pages that it creates and allows for the creator to view all of the portfolios from one site, or will each one need to be opened separately? Matt
