  1. @Graham Quince Cheers Graham - I have to say I'd had a look at the themes and although they'd get the menu there they don't really fit the style of the site or restrict the content area to a very small width. I will probably end up doing this in the text widget which I was also trying to avoid as this will be very time consuming to do for a few hundred links in total! I will look forward to Galileo!
  2. Does anyone know of a way to easily embed a site's sub menu onto a page within that site. I am trying to streamline the navigation of a site for our Science department. See screenshot below.
  3. @ADT Worthwhile having a look over the attached. By far the clearest guidance I've found for school's as of yet. It doesn't delve into the finer details but is aimed specifically at schools and has cleared up some of the difficult questions I had. Groupcall - The complete GDPR eBook for Academy Trusts.pdf

    GDPR

Is anyone on here leading on Data Protection within their school or are aware of a colleague who is leading on this? In light GDPR coming into place in May I'd be interested in liaising with other schools to see how they are tackling this.
  5. @mmclaughlin Sounds like a good idea - unfortunately for us laptops. macbooks etc are non existent in the schools I work in. I actually think given the functionality you've mentioned above this would be a much better solution than using FrogSnap on mobile devices and tablets. We have huge issues getting work off of mobile devices especially ipads as the workflow is just terrible. FrogSnap offers a semi solution but having the power to quickly and easily upload documents and files as well as photos would be a big win.
  6. Although this is brief and there is lots more going on behind the scenes we do the following based on lots of feedback and consultation with parents and the wider school community. Public website: Our public website is used as a one stop shop for all day to day information about school life. We've added every useful piece of content that we can make publicly available as it is then in one easy to access place online (parents don't need to worry about logins either). As our website isn't built on Frog we have much more flexibility in terms of how that data is managed and updated for example our schools Office 365 calendar automatically syncs with our website generating an up to date live calendar. www.holmfirthhigh.co.uk Frog: For us Frog is now solely a learning platform, all homework is available for parents to view via Frog and the MyFrog app. Any other useful learning resources are also made available on here to parents such as department/revision sites and links to other learning support websites. We even promote and give parents access to GCSEPod via Frog so they can use this to support their child's learning. MyEd app (PS Engage): The MyEd mobile app /PSEngage system and is now used as our main means of providing parents with data about their child including behaviour, attendance timetable and school reports. Most of it syncs each night and is available on the app however, reports are emailed to parents as are letters home and various data collection surveys. This platform has lots of potential to completely change the way we work - it is fairly new to the school and we're currently just scratching the surface.
  7. @Graham Quince to take this one step further I'd suggest we need to be able to see analytics on how many times a user accesses the app not just how many times they log in as in theory once logged in they will remain logged in!
  8. @mmclaughlin Sounds like an interesting idea - where would the photo come from in the first place though wouldn't you need a mobile device to take a photo easily anyway?
  9. @S Marcham I definitely think there is a need for teachers to be able to send marked documents back to students - it's not currently possible. Creating a new assignment really isn't a solution to this it would take staff forever to do this on an individual basis and by separting the assignments it becomes much harder to track (for staff, students and parents).
  10. Staff to be able to 'Download wall' from assignments Currently only Administrators can click 'download wall' and download all communication that has taken place on an assignment. We would like for staff to have the ability to do this too so they can easily download evidence of feedback between staff and student on assignments. https://ideas.frogcommunity.com/ideas/FRG-I-1246
  11. I know embedding PowerPoints has been a topic before however, due to the scale of what a department at Holmfirth High is trying to achieve I thought I'd start another forum that is not specifically related to OneDrive, The Science department would like to embed a PowerPoint on to a Frog site for every single lesson they teach at KS4 (this will be a large amount of PowerPoints) which I and they simply don't have the time to embed one by one using the HTML widget and OneDrive. Does anyone has a better solution as to how we can embed all these PowerPoints or a folder structure of PowerPoints so they can be viewed on the page without having to download them first?
  12. I've created the following on the ideas portal - please get voting on this so Frog might finally consider it! Confirmation of a student viewing an assignment As with social media messaging services it would be useful for staff to know if/when a student has viewed a homework on Frog. This could be shown with a little eye icon next to each students name in the assignment manager. This functionality is available within several competitors to Frog and would make life much easier for staff as they could quickly identify which students simply haven't checked their homework assignment. https://ideas.frogcommunity.com/ideas/FRG-I-1242
  13. I've created the following on the ideas portal - certainly worth getting some votes. Confirmation of a student viewing an assignment As with social media messaging services it would be useful for staff to know if/when a student has viewed a homework on Frog. 14. @ADT This definitely needs to happen to get students on board and effectively letting their teachers know they've completed their homework! I am pretty sure it's in the pipeline with Frogs next release of the app. Less specific to MyFrog but it would be really powerful if staff could get analytics or a 'seen it' status for each student so they know which students have and have not viewed each homework task on Frog.

    Quizzes

Attached video of process - unless I'm going about this the wrong way - I don't remember it taking so long before! Matrix report.mp4

    Quizzes

@Graham Quince My comment in regards to viewing results was for matrix view - just tested this and steps are as below. - Show reports - click the title of the quiz - matrix view - select the title of the assignment - matrix view

    Quizzes

@Graham Quince I've been responding to staff in a similar way when they have reported the issue. However, it does seem to be a regular occurrence that students (often well behaved students who do complete their homework) are insisting they have completed the quiz and gone on to the results page yet the staff member has no mark for them. I've also got to add the the in-depth reports are a bit of a nightmare - there's 5 clicks or so before you get to the data that you want/need.
  18. Workflow from ipads to the school network has always been a bit of a restriction for us. For schools with ipads what method do you use to get resources off of them and back to where they need to be?
  19. @Graham Quince This is interesting to hear and I'd agree that Google is superior when it comes to collaboration - certainly with students anyway. This is because Office 365 have not made it easy for teachers to restrict what students can and cannot edit on a collaborative document. The Notebook in theory looks great but it's a lot of work to get running and who needs a lot of work in education?!? For us the main benefit for using Office 365 over Google was to give all staff and students the ability to download the full office suite for free on up to 5 home devices. A big benefit within a school that a lot of students don't have access to Office from home. Also at the time of our decision we had recently invested in ipads and although our requirements have since changed In order to access the Microsoft apps on ipads an Office 365 account was required. This is now not being heavily used as we are yet to find an ideal solution for work flow on ipads. Withe regards to training sessions have been run at both schools I work at however it has very much been tailored to staff working collaboratively rather than staff working collaboratively with students.
  20. This gets my vote. Out of interest are staff mainly using this for assignments that were physically completed via Frog using the activities or for homework completed in books too?
  21. Thanks again Paul. I'll have a play around with this and get a few staff testing too - where exactly are you getting the uuid from in Frog is it from the assignment manager code? I suppose the totals would be most effective if they were updated in loading the page then it would be easy to spot a student who was not following protocol. I guess the filtering by date would be useful if a student had begun to start completing assignments but had not always done so. I would envisage this mainly being used for smaller groups rather than whole year groups - as you say the loading time would be a big factor. Cheers, Chris
  22. @mmclaughlin Thanks for the responses - The Exam mode doesn't stop a user from retaking the quiz it simply stops the user from seeing the answers until the end of the quiz and removes the ability to plat games alongside the quiz. I'm not too sure how this would effect the quiz and games - are the games reliant on a max of 5 answers?
  23. @pconkie That's great - we've just been thinking about the best way of staff doing this. Any chance of getting the code? Not sure how feasible this would be but a few thoughts on how it could become even more powerful.. If a member of staff could search for a group ,form group or even year group and the results returned was a list of all students who are members of that group with an overview summary of their assignment activity. Similar to the image attached. Then on clicking the student they are taken into the list of all the assignments for that student as you have shown. What this would achieve is a simple way for form tutors and pastoral staff to see which students are following protocol and formally handing work in to staff by clicking complete assignment. It would also help staff find the assignment info for groups of children without having to manually type each name one by one.
  24. @ADT Ahh a benefit I do not have! A couple of other things that may affect this... Just to confirm you've added the code in between <style></style> tags? When students are accessing their assignments what are they clicking on - the route I have taken is by clicking Frog's own 'My Assignments' widget which has been added to the student dashboard. I know in the past we had issues with custom code that was added for displaying lists of student assignments on their dashboards.
  25. We have had a big push with quizzes in Frog recently and lots of staff are now using these. With lots of staff using quizzes I am getting lots of requests for change - a lot of these I think are 'getting back to basics' the things that should have been in place from day one so here goes.. Stop students being able to 'retake' a quiz FrogPlay quizzes are used frequently for baseline assessments and staff have requested the ability to stop students being able to 'retake' or retry individual quizzes that have been assigned. https://ideas.frogcommunity.com/ideas/FRG-I-1225 Ability to 'Add new' to quiz answer boxes Currently when adding answers or 'dummy answers' to quizzes users are limited to just 5 options. We would like to have an 'Add new' option at the bottom so users can have as many answers as necessary. https://ideas.frogcommunity.com/ideas/FRG-I-1224 Ability to extend the question editing box within the quizbuilder When creating a question in a quiz the box is of a limited height making it hard to work with larger paragraph based questions. Increasing the text box size or having the option to drag the box to a larger size would be very useful for staff. https://ideas.frogcommunity.com/ideas/FRG-I-1223
